Frequently Asked Questions
  • How is your program different than other alcohol awareness/drunk driving programs?  A lot of programs have a "doom and gloom" method of delivering their message, but I do not. I use humor to build a connection with the audience and ease into my personal story.  I do not use shock value, but yet, share my story that will inspire and educate the audience.  As an educator, I am aware of different learning styles that are effective and find that speaking from the funny bone and heart works the best.  I come from the perspective of being a mother's child and we can all relate to that.

  • What is your target audience for The Magic of Life?  This program is designed for students (high school and college), student-athletes, members of Greek organizations, parents, and the general student community.  I will speak to Junior High students and change it a bit to cater to their age group.

  • Do you have presenation for parents? Yes I do. The Magic of Life for parents will be a little bit different in terms of format, but will cover the same information. I like to have more of an open dialogue with parents on how alcohol may impact their children whether it is in high school or college.

  • What costs are associated with bringing you to our school/community event?  My agent/manager, GG Greg, will discuss with you personally my fees.  As much as I would love to do it free, I cannot and please keep in mind there will be travel costs as well.

  • We would love to bring you to our school, but we have a small budget, will you work within our budget?  My agent/manager, GG Greg, will discuss with you some options that will hopefully help with your budget constraints.  Working in Higher Education, I share your pain with budget issues and will do my best to work within your budget.

  • Do you talk about religion in The Magic of Life? I do not share my religious views as I am fully aware and respect everyone's different religious backgrounds.  The program is about believing in yourself and making smart decisions in life.

  • You perform stand up comedy in the program, how appropriate is the material for the audience?  Even though I perform at clubs for adults, my material during The Magic of Life is PG-13.  You will receive a questionnaire in which you can let me know what age preference of material is okay on your campus.

  • How long is your show?  Generally the program is about 60 minutes, which includes Q & A, but if need be, I can do it in 45 minutes if that is all your schedule allows.

  • Do you use PowerPoint or any type of media?  I do not use PowerPoint in the presentation, as I like to focus on the human element, which makes for a more effective show.  I do show a 2-minute video of my mother, brother and me that is on a DVD.  This video can be seen on the home page on the left side of the screen.

  • May we video tape your show and use it later during the school year?  Unfortunately you may not video the show to be used at a later date.  This is very much a "live" type of show and more effective when I can build that connection with the audience in person.

  • What's the deal with the KISS shirt anyway? What can I say? I have been a fan since the second grade.  Wearing the shirt is just another creative method in connecting with the audience.  Besides, I am amazed that no matter where I go in the country, students not only know the band, but also are fans – and so are their teachers!
